Coleman Hawkins-Body and Soul Quite an impressive beginning which sets the mood for the songs. There is piano followed by saxophone. Most probably it is the Tenor Sax. The composition is essentially Jazz and can be said as one of the earliest forms of the bebop genre. There is immense improvisation all through the composition. One by one the instruments come in and make space for one another, it seems. The three-minute-long composition is sad but also happy. I mean the composition does not evoke one singular feeling. As per me understanding both the tenor sax and the alto sax are the primary elements which hold on the rhythm very strongly
